Hello there, my name is Kateryna Fury. I am a writer, musician, film maker wanna be. I am disabled, I have a spinal cord injury, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Reynaud’s Syndrome, Celiac Sprue, and the potential for other ailments. I consider myself healthy, and I strive to have a high quality of life. My current goals include preparing for the 2010 Miss Wheelchair USA competition, becoming a Championship quality public speaker Via Toastmasters, and advocating for the rights of women, disabled people, and any person who has a need that I can fulfill. This includes beginning to prepare for the creation of a documentary about our Disabled Veterans.
I have two cats, one is a trained service animal. One of my most passionate advocacy platforms is about service animal awareness and acceptance. I run into a lot of difficulty just because she is a cat, despite the fact that the Federal Laws protect me. A lot of people do not believe you can train a cat, and, she is proof you can. The service animal is named Sprite. Her companion cat is named William Shakespurr. We adopted
them both from the animal shelters locally, though I have had Sprite for several years. William is new to our household at the time I am writing this biography. He is skittish when it comes to men but is so very loving, yet he reacts to most technology with utter terror, as if he has never seen a flashlight, computer, or heard a Television set. He is a Mystery.
I live with my in home caregiver as well. Since I cannot bend and am banned from the kitchen by Doctors he keeps me from wasting away into nothingness.
